I can’t get a compostable grocery bag at CO OP anymore but I can buy Glad bags. Crazy! Tone deaf nutbag mayor, can’t wait until she’s gone. Progressivism is a disease.

I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life. I will stop getting take out if I have to pay for a bag. This bylaw will not only be hard on customers but also on fast food restaurants.

Please focus on much more pressing issues. This just feels like a micro tacky infringement into people’s lives.

Studies have shown that reusable bags are even worse for the environment.

Where can we get information as to where the money is going and what it will be used for??

Please stop penalizing the end user and come up with solutions that inspire service providers to reduce the waste that comes our way. If anything, create incentives for restaurants and businesses to find creative ways to reduce THEIR wasteful practices that extend our way. – for instance do we really need 5 knapkins for a takeout meal, do we really need an entire fork/knife ensemble in a clear wrap with salt and pepper? Are there not biodegradable fork options? Incentives to provide those to us is where we need to start. We all want to reduce our footprint, but penalizing the end user must stop. Providing incentives for the providers to rethink their own wasteful packaging practices is where this needs to start.

Our Calgary Council has overstep this by law they really don’t know what they’re doing. They’re just sitting around the round table trying to figure out how gauge more money from us tax payers. They need more money to compensate for the raises.
