I’m all for getting rid of one-use plastics and encouraging bio-degradable alternatives or other methodologies. We need to clean up for sure. However, whoever came up with this ultra-moronic.. I mean Nobel Prize winning bylaw, the stupidity.. I mean sheer brilliance astounds me. This bylaw does absolutely NOTHING! If one saw the immense amount of plastic, industrial waste, household waste that went into the landfill on a daily basis, they’d be floored. Whatever petty amount of plastics this saves from going to the landfill doesn’t even scratch the surface. Well, actually, this bylaw does something.. piss people off and put underpaid workers in the fast food industry in an awkward spot. If the city wants to clean up, then look at the big problems and come up with actual sensible solutions that can be implemented on a proper timeline to work towards the goal. I wish we could fire all the useless councillors.

I wish Calgary City Council would spend more time on reducing expenditures rather than being concerned about paper bags.

Commie Castro Jr lost in court. He’s a loser. Anyone who follows him is a loser. Don’t be a loser like Castro. Give us our friggin’ plastic spoons & bags back!

Another fee or tax just to have the right bag when I go for groceries and such that I can just barely afford now. We often recycle plastic bags from the grocery and department stores. We always have a bag of bags in the kitchen and they come in handy for multiple uses. Drop your plans for the sake of your employers “ We The People”.

This policy is only a way of cost savings for the businesses, and a way for government getting more money, but not beneficial to the environment at all.
