- Advance voting for post-secondary students will be available at three campuses. Mount Royal University will host voting at the Roderick Mah Centre on October 6th and 7th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The University of Calgary will hold advance voting at the Dining Centre on October 8th and 9th, also from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm.
- Mayoral candidate Jeff Davison announced a plan to enhance Calgary’s emergency response by adding an EMS-trained fifth responder to fire crews, aiming to better support firefighters and improve outcomes for mental health and addictions calls. He emphasized partnering with Alberta Health Services to reduce response times and provide advanced medical care on scene. Davison pointed to successful programs in cities like Seattle, San Francisco, and Toronto as models Calgary could adapt.
- CTV is doing a “Meet the Mayoral Candidate” series. Brian Thiessen, candidate for The Calgary Party, says he is running to help Calgary reach its full potential as a world-class city by focusing on strong leadership, effective teams, and practical policy. He identified public safety and housing as the city’s top priorities, proposing 24/7 mental health and addiction supports through police services and a streamlined approach to building housing for Calgary’s growing population.
- CTV also spoke with incumbent Jyoti Gondek as part of the “Meet the Mayoral Candidate” series. Gondek says she wants to continue overseeing Calgary’s ongoing investments in public safety, infrastructure, and housing. She emphasized maintaining steady, experienced leadership to ensure affordability, strong infrastructure, and a thriving economy. She framed her track record as one of calm, effective leadership and a reason for voters to trust her to sustain the city’s growth, revitalize downtown, and keep safety and economic development on track.
