Election 2025: Campaign Roundup - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of our Calgary 2025 Campaign Roundup!

With the 2025 municipal election underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.

Campaign Roundup - Day 3:

• Advance voting runs from October 6th to 11th, 2025, with stations open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Voters can cast their ballot at any convenient location. The City’s online map tool has a list of locations.
  
  
• Calgary’s 2025 municipal election will feature political parties following provincial legislation allowing parties at the local level. A Better Calgary has endorsed independent candidate Jeff Davison for Mayor, Sonya Sharp is running for Mayor with Communities First, and Brian Thiessen is running for Mayor with The Calgary Party. All three organizations have a list of candidates on their websites.
  
  
• Three mayoral candidates - Jyoti Gondek, Jeromy Farkas, and Sonya Sharp - took part in a lighthearted Jeopardy-style trivia event hosted by LiveWire Calgary, answering questions on City issues instead of debating. It can be viewed online here.
  
  
• Mayoral candidate Brian Thiessen shared a video regarding his views on zoning. He said that all sides of the blanket rezoning debate have valid concerns and that he would listen to residents and prioritize fixing zoning.
  
  
• Mayoral candidate Jeff Davison announced that he would prioritize skilled labour in Calgary’s growth, proposing that City contracts require a set percentage of certified tradespeople, apprentices, and journeypersons. He aims to reduce City Hall delays, expand apprenticeship programs with SAIT, and partner with organizations to increase training opportunities.
