Election 2025: Campaign Roundup - Day 19

Welcome to Day 19 of our Calgary 2025 Campaign Roundup!

With the 2025 municipal election underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.

As always, our work is entirely funded by donations from residents just like you, so if you appreciate the updates, please consider making a one-off donation or signing up as a supporter for just $10 a month - that's just 36 cents per email!

Campaign Roundup - Day 19:

  • Advance voting is still ongoing. You can cast your ballot until October 11th. Polls are open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. To find a location, click here.

  • A new poll shows that one-third of Calgarians remain undecided just over a week before the municipal election, an unusually high number this close to voting day. Among decided and leaning voters, Jeromy Farkas leads with 27%, followed by incumbent Jyoti Gondek and Sonya Sharp, who are tied at 23%, and Jeff Davison at 16%. Political scientist Duane Bratt described the race as “anyone’s game,” citing voter confusion around new municipal parties and a lack of major policy differences among candidates.

  • Ryan Jespersen hosted a Mayoral debate on his Real Talk podcast. Jeromy Farkas, Jyoti Gondek, Brian Thiessen, Sonya Sharp, and Jeff Davison participated. You can watch the debate on YouTube here.

  • Mayoral candidate Jeff Davison is hosting an Ask Me Anything on Reddit from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm this afternoon. Answers to the many questions already in queue will be available to read in the thread even after the time slot.
