Campaign Roundup - Day 15:
- Advance voting is open! Voting runs until October 11th and polls are open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Polling locations and voter information are available online.
- Young Calgarians say affordability, jobs, and housing are their top concerns in this year’s municipal election, with many feeling uncertain about their future in the city. Despite their frustrations over high living costs, limited job opportunities, and transit safety, some warn that there may be low youth voter turnout.
- Mayoral candidate Jeff Davison released a pledge to Calgary’s more than 15,000 City workers, promising to restore respect, trust, and collaboration at City Hall. He criticized recent leadership for fostering division and disrespect, saying City staff have been unfairly blamed instead of supported. Davison vowed to provide clear direction, break down silos, and ensure employees can take pride in their work.
- Amid the teachers’ strike, Mayoral candidate Jyoti Gondek posted an open letter emphasizing respect for parents, teachers, and students striving to learn. She criticized the provincial government for ignoring voices at the bargaining table and highlighted the broader impact on families and the city’s economy.
