This makes me very angry. My family has been working long and hard to pay down our household debt and retire our mortgage. How are we supposed to accomplish that when city council continues to undermine our efforts by increasing our expenses, giving little thought as to where the money is supposed to come from? Perhaps they should run the city the same way we manage our household by not spending money they don’t have. It’s called a budget people!!!!

our monthly taxes increased by 11.4%, $30 per month. when I called the city and asked for an explanation….well it made no common sense. rate increase as per the city was based on our assigned rate in January 2023 (which was too high), rate was adjusted in July to what is should be. However the city looked at this as a temporary discount. Rate will be reviewed again in May with adjustments in July 2024. What a inept system, over charge for the first 6 months, then discount for the last 6 months…..constant moving target, System need to be overhauled….painful

The thing about city councils and governments is they have the do it and ask for forgiveness later attitude! If these and all tax hikes were fairly voted on by the people these criminals are supposed to represent Id guarantee they would have all been voted down. City council is a joke and run by a bunch of disturbed individuals.

Cut municipal spending and fire a bunch of overpaid bureaucrats and aldermen. People can’t afford tax increases. And fire the mayor at the same time.

My property taxes already increased by about 80 dollars a month last year due to a rapid rise in the appraised value of my home. I am already paying much more, I don’t want to pay even more next year.

We employ city council to run our city, not build a city, if they need money why not sell those hanging rocks that cost us $250,000 below COP park in the N.W. Talking with a man who helped build the Saddle dome, his remarks were it was built to last a 1000 years, and wondered how they will take down so much steel & concrete forming this structure. WE NEED A SYSTEM TO BRING OUR CITY INTO BEING PRACTICAL. Not a bottomless pit of spending. Mr. Dun.

The inflation rate is 3%, but our mayor and city council chose to increase taxes 7.8%. What kind of mathematics is that? Why not give Calgarians a tax break during these uncertain times? We deserve better than this!
