What is the job of a municipal government?
Many Calgarians are asking this very question.
The recent water main break that led to extended water restrictions has put core services into the spotlight.
People are questioning whether this water crisis was preventable and what the City is doing with our tax dollars.
Despite rising property taxes, complaints about services like snow removal, pothole repairs, basic maintenance, and infrastructure persist.
Clearly, there is an urgent need for a shift in priorities at City Hall.
Since the inception of Common Sense Calgary, more than a decade ago, we’ve been screaming from the rooftops for a return to prioritizing core services.
It's time for City Hall to listen.
Calgarians deserve reliable, efficient, and uninterrupted access to essential services that support their daily lives.
Prioritizing the maintenance and improvement of core infrastructure and services, such as water, sanitation, and roads, is the essential job of City Hall.
In fact, it should be the only job of City Hall.
Core services form the backbone of a functional and thriving city.
We must end non-essential projects that don’t directly benefit the majority of residents.
Our resources should be allocated where they are needed most, ensuring every dollar spent makes a real difference in our community.
Residents deserve to know their taxes are being used effectively and responsibly, with a clear focus on only the necessities.
No more chaos.
No more pet projects.
No more misplaced priorities.
It’s time for City Hall to get back to basics.

Many have represented this proud city’s interest with great fiscal policy, sound common sense & “get it done” contagious enthusiasm.
I have never seen a group of city politicians elected by the smallest voter turnout who possess so many personal agendas & incompetence.
I knew the next term would be a circus with so many elected clowns.
Apathetic Calgarians/ taxpayers DESERVE what they get.
If you don’t pay attention to your government & its policies, you’re doomed to be run by a ship of fools.
I only hope taxpayers start taking a vested interest in their political representatives & their voting track records thru past council votes on the issues that will have drastic long-term consequences to our city. Ie: incompetent conceptional planning & project management extending a much needed LRT line, city-wide rezoning, crumbling critical infrastructure, union sponsored councillors, political agendas or policies that are not part of a candidate’s platform, etc.
