Many Calgarians are asking this very question.
The recent water main break that led to extended water restrictions has put core services into the spotlight.
People are questioning whether this water crisis was preventable and what the City is doing with our tax dollars.
Despite rising property taxes, complaints about services like snow removal, pothole repairs, basic maintenance, and infrastructure persist.
Clearly, there is an urgent need for a shift in priorities at City Hall.
Since the inception of Common Sense Calgary, more than a decade ago, we’ve been screaming from the rooftops for a return to prioritizing core services.
It's time for City Hall to listen.
Calgarians deserve reliable, efficient, and uninterrupted access to essential services that support their daily lives.
Prioritizing the maintenance and improvement of core infrastructure and services, such as water, sanitation, and roads, is the essential job of City Hall.
In fact, it should be the only job of City Hall.
Core services form the backbone of a functional and thriving city.
We must end non-essential projects that don’t directly benefit the majority of residents.
Our resources should be allocated where they are needed most, ensuring every dollar spent makes a real difference in our community.
Residents deserve to know their taxes are being used effectively and responsibly, with a clear focus on only the necessities.
No more chaos.
No more pet projects.
No more misplaced priorities.
It’s time for City Hall to get back to basics.

In this sense, we need dedicated custodians, not continual lime-light seekers angling for Leftist Provincial or Federal political postings. A Municipal government position should not be an apprenticeship for a “bigger and better” do-nothing political career (aside from the goal of earning fat pensions at the end of it).
Calgary needs more technical oriented people to understand our aging infrastructures and how best to allocate Taxpayer money in maintaining them. The watermain break was a wake-up call. Many facilities need attention, for example anything build with concrete decades ago that had uncoated reinforced steel (now completely corroded out, for example bridges.)
Selling critical portions of Calgary’s infrastructure to satisfy making profits for Taxpayer funded and created Corporations like Enmax IS NOT the function of Municipal government.
